| Dear all, We are sad to notify you that our fellow Malaysian student at the University of Central Oklahoma, Boon-Seong Tan @ Danny, 21, Senior Finance major, was admitted to Edmond Medical Center ICU (Intensive Care Unit) due to Acute Myeloblastic Leukaemia (AML)on Wednesday, November 27, 2002. He is now undertaking his chemotherapy and will take at least a month to complete it. After the chemotherapy, he will need to do a bone marrow transplantation in order to increase his survival rate to 80%. As a UCO international student, his Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan only cover 80% of his total medical fees, or US$55,000 at maximum. But his whole course of therapy, including the transplant ($250,000) will cost about $400,000. Danny will need a suitable bone marrow for his transplant. His blood type is O positive. According to representative in Oklahoma Blood Institute, it is of higher chance to get a perfect match among Malaysian students. The OBI is willing to administer a blood drive for him, at no cost to those who wish to make a try, in the beginning of year 2003. MSA is initiating a campus-wide fund-raising event and a blood drive co-sponsored by Oklahoma Blood Institute. We need other student organizations to join our team. At the same time, we will collect individual donations. We are going out of the campus to get donations, from other universities, big companies, restaurants, temples, churches, and charitable organizations. We wish to get worldwide attention on this to get enough money for his medical bills. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Please contact me as soon as possible. Join us to save a life. Checks are also acceptable.
